Seniors are finalizing their plans for life after high school. For those planning on college, most NC students from households making $80,000 or less will qualify for the Next NC Scholarship, a financial aid program that combines the Federal Pell grant and state aid into one, easy to understand scholarship.
Eligible students attending a community college will receive at least $3,000 per year, which means qualifying North Carolinians can choose from any of the 58 community colleges (https://www.nccommunitycolleges.edu/students/what-we-offer/colleges/) across the state and have all of their tuition and fees 100% covered. Those attending a public university in North Carolina will get a minimum of $5,000 per year. That pays for more than half, if not all, of tuition and fees at any of the 16 public universities (https://www.northcarolina.edu/institutions/) in the state. Students with the greatest need for financial aid could qualify for even more to help make paying for college more manageable.
Students apply for this scholarship by completing the FAFSA. Go to nextncscholarship.org for more information.

Aurora Bettendorf, Eliza Ess, Jade Torain, Trinity Woods, Kegan Vallier were each awarded a certificate of special congressional recognition signed by Congresswoman Valerie Foushee. With May right around the corner, we wanted to give you all a heads up about our lunch schedule for May.
Friday, May 17 will be the last day we are serving lunch.
Monday, May 20 is the last full day of school, but the dining hall will be closed for testing, so students will need to bring their lunches. Because the dining hall will be closed for testing, students will not have access to any microwaves, so make sure their lunch does not need to be heated up.
From May 21 to the last day of school on May 30, we are operating on flex day schedules, releasing at 12:30 pm, so we will not be serving lunch those days.
Please plan accordingly.
RCS baseball plays Voyager tomorrow night, April 23, at Optimist Park at 7:00. Prior to the game, we will recognize Coach Pete Tuck for his recent induction into the RCS Hall of Fame and for his many contributions to RCS baseball and RCS athletics. We hope to see you there to honor Coach Tuck and to see your Bulldogs battle Voyager for the conference lead as both teams enter the contest undefeated in conference play.
AP exams are in just a couple weeks! To help support our AP students, Sr. Beta Club is selling candy grams for $1 for students taking AP tests during lunch in the lobby. Students will receive their candy gram(s) on the day of their AP exam(s)!
