The high school band concert is this Thursday, February 29 at 6:30 p.m. in the MPR. Come hear the music the high school band will perform at the Carowinds Music Festival in March.

The Jr. Beta Club is collecting donations of items and pop tabs from aluminum cans for the Ronald McDonald House for the Spring project! If you would like to donate, please drop off your donations at the front desk here at RCS! See the attached flyers to see what donations they are requesting. Again, all donations are to be dropped off at RCS, not the address on the flyers.

Middle school baseball practice is canceled for today. Next practice will be Monday 3:30-5:30 p.m. at Optimist Park. We will also have a quick parent meeting right after practice.

Grace Bailey and Caleiah Woods were presented with a scholarship from the Lewis "Eddie" Winstead Memorial Fund today. Part of the mission of this organization is to support student-athletes interested in pursuing education in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through mentorship. Bailey, who plays basketball, and Woods, who plays golf, are exceptional students who plan to pursue degrees in STEM after graduation. We are so proud of them and thankful to the committee for the Lewis 'Eddie' Winstead Memorial Fund, Inc. for coming today, sharing about their mission, and supporting these amazing student-athletes.

RCS’ 2024 Outstanding Young Educators are middle school science teacher, Alex Porter and high school math teacher, Amanda Carter. RCS’ 2024 Outstanding Teenagers are Grace Bailey, Olivia Ess, Kaylen Newton, and Caroline Puryear. They will represent the school at the Roxboro Jaycee Distinguished Service Awards on March 21, 2024. High school baseball workouts today will be at the Hit Lab, located in the warehouse behind American Hero restaurant, from 3:30 - 5:00. The first day of official practice begins tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb 14. Players should have a current physical on file at the school. Everyone planning to play high school baseball should attend or contact Ron Hodgin at 336-504-4847 to let him know why you are unable to attend.

Our open enrollment period is almost over! We will be accepting applications for the 2024-2025 school year from now until March 5, 2024. The link to submit an application is on the Enrollment Page of our website (https://www.roxborocs.org/page/enrollment). If we have more applications than openings, we will hold an online lottery on March 7, 2024. A few reminders * Students who are currently attending Roxboro Community School DO NOT need to re-apply to attend next school year. * Siblings of current students or alumni DO need to complete an application to attend RCS next year. They are given preference in the lottery because they are the sibling** of a current student or alumni. But they do have to apply by the March 5, 2024 deadline or the Lotterease computer system will automatically place them on a waiting list. [**"Sibling" includes brothers or sisters, half-siblings, step-siblings, or foster siblings living in the same household.] * Paper copies of the 2024-2025 application are available at the Front Desk for anyone who does not have internet or computer access. Any high school boys interested in playing golf this year should see Coach Jones this week. Practices will start on Monday, February 19 at Caswell Pines, weather permitting.
